We’ve all heard of Amazon.com, of course but are you aware of this service they offer called Amazon Prime? Amazon Prime is an upgraded shipping program whereby you pay an annual fee of $79.00 and your shipments from Amazon.com can be shipped 2-day at no additional fee, or for a fee of $3.99, some items can be shipped Overnight service level (all based upon business days, no weekends). So, if you already order from Amazon.com and you’ll be ordering at least some of your holiday gifts from Amazon.com it’s a no-brainer that you should consider upgrading to Amazon Prime. As it’s an annual plan your orders from Amazon.com for the next year may qualify for Prime Shipping (remember not every item does, just pay attention on the item’s description page where you’ll see whether or not the item qualifies for Prime shipping).

Here’s an example, let’s say you order once a month from Amazon.com that’s a total of 12 orders, so now divide the $79.00 annual fee by 12 to amortize our shipping cost over one year’s worth of orders; that number is $6.58 per order as your average cost of shipping; that’s really a great value because remember it’s two-day shipping. Also, in our household some of the items coming in are heavy, small cases of things like Method household cleaner and Cascade dishwashing soap pellets, again a small case. Both of these daily, household items qualify for Amazon Prime shipping, so they arrive in 2-days at no additional shipping fee. Sweet! Oh, and I also save between $1.00 – $2.00 off per bottle of the Method household cleaner we use which increases the whole value proposition.
Saving money on shipping, great selection at competitive prices all in one, easy-to-navigate website; consider this when you sit down to do your holiday shopping in these challenging economic times.

We order quite a bit from Amazon.com so the annual fee ends up being spread out over a lot of shipments, so in our instance it pays for itself in spades. Now, with another holiday shopping season upon us, I will be no doubt be buying several of my holiday gifts at Amazon.com so my Amazon Prime shipping service will be a time and money saver for me! All based upon the assumption that I get busy and select and purchase my holiday gifts (more on this in another post).  Not everything qualifies for Prime shipping but if you look closely all items are clearly marked if they qualify or the gold 1-Click buttons appear in the window, if you’re logged in but have to have “One Click” shopping turned on. I LOVE not having to swim through a shopping cart to buy my merchandise. This a huge time-saver.
